Packing photos

Packing pictures is an easy task and we recommend using a medium linen box, approximately 3.1 Cu. Ft.. Line the bottom of the box with balls of packing paper and then securely wrap each picture in one or more sheets of paper. Lay them flat at the bottom of the box and leave at least 2” on the sides of the box. Continue packing layers of pictures followed by layers of padding, leaving at least 3” at the top. Line the top of the box with paper padding and securely seal the box.

For packing large pictures, we recommend using a specially-sized picture box that can be purchased from any moving supply store or through a moving company. The average picture box can accommodate two average size pictures. Seal the bottom of the box and line it with packing paper to cushion and then place the pictures in the box, face to face, using a sheet of cardboard as a divider to prevent scratching. Use packing paper to fill in the box, securely padding the edges and between the picture frames. Leave enough room at the top for padding and securely fasten the box, making sure to mark the box as “FRAGILE.” It is important that you don’t place these boxes flat and that you mark the box to make sure that movers know to keep it upright during transit.
